Technical
description
of MEDICOVI®
-D40
D40
consists of a
soft EVA-upper
sole and an underlying
sensory water
filled massage
sole. Before
use the two soles
are glued together
by the self attaching
glue that is
on the surface
of the water
filled sensory
massage sole.
The
soft EVA-upper
sole
The
soft EVA-sole
is made of an
anti fungicide
material. On
the sole surface
facing the foot
the EVA-sole
has been applied
with a very strong
fabric that has
been treated
with AEGIS Microbe
Shield.
The
sensory water
filled massage
sole
A
vital condition
for the sensory
water filled
sole to give
sensory massage
is that when
the sole is exposed
to pressure loads
it is able to
build up a dynamic
hydraulic pressure
under the foot
bones. This means
that the sole
has to be strong
enough to carry
the body's weight
through the dynamic
hydraulic water
pressure inside
the sole.
During
construction
of the water
filled sensory
massage sole
a number of specially
developed materials
has been used.
The patented
lamination provides
the sole with
excellent strength
and stability
which is necessary
for the sensory
massage.
The
sole contains
water as water
is fast flowing,
this being an
absolute prerequisite
for affecting
the sensory massage
and the hydraulic
pressure equalization.
To
further optimize
the water movement
the welding of
the sole has
been done by
a special welding
method that creates
a hollow space
between the two
foils ensuring
optimal water
movement. Furthermore
the sole is supplied
with welding
patterns on the
sole surface
that controls
the water movement
ensuring that
the sole mainly
builds up pressure
equalizing water
cushions under
the heel and
forefoot.
The
underside of
the sensory water
filled massage
sole is provided
with a friction
film that ensures
that the sole
stays put in
the shoe.
The
laminates that
make up the sole
must invariably
follow the fast
movement of the
water under the
huge dynamic
hydraulic pressure
and this movement
causes wear and
tear on the laminates.
At a certain
stage, the wear
and tear does
cause tiny holes
in the laminates
and water will
evaporate.
Shock-absorption
and pressure
relief in the
sensory water
filled massage
sole
In
the heel the
sensory water
filled massage
sole MEDICOVI®
-D50 has a welding
pattern that
functions as
double valve
that regulates
the speed that
water under pressure
can flow freely
under the forefoot.
The double heel
valve provides
an affective
shock-absorption
and pressure
relief of the
heel bone, especially
at low speeds,
where the build
in shock-absorption
in shoes normally
don't work.
When
the soles heel
surface is exposed
to pressure load
it will take
time for the
water to pass
through the double
heel valve, which
will increase
the collision
time. At the
same time the
pressure on the
heel will raise
the hydraulic
pressure in the
water that has
yet to pass through
the double heel
valve. The hydraulic
pressure will
distribute the
pressure force
from the heel
to a larger surface
of the heel cushion,
making the collision
area larger. The raise of the collision time and the collision area creates the shock-absorption
in sensory water
filled massage
sole.
The
double heel valve
also slows down
the water movement
when the forefoot
is exposed to
pressure loads
and causes the
water to return
back towards
the heel. The
double heel valve
herby provides
powerful effective
shock- absorption
and great pressure
relief to the
forefoot.
The
double heel valves,
slowing down
of the water
in combination
with the inserted
point barriers
creates a water
cushion under
the forefoot
and especially
under the ball
of the forefoot.
The water cushion
prolongs the
collision time,
at the same time
the counter pressure
in the water
cushion will
expand the pressure
surface up against
the ball of the
forefoot (Collision
surface), creating
powerful pressure
relief to the
ball of the forefoot.
When you stand it is the heel and forefoot
that is exposed to the biggest pressure
loads.
That
is why the double
heel valve and
the inserted
point barriers
are constructed
is such a way
that they create
a water cushion
that is mainly
concentrated
under the heel
and the ball
of the forefoot.
The
hydraulic pressure
cushion under
the heel and
forefoot occurs
when the water
under pressure
loads from the
foot becomes
enclosed inside
the strong inelastic
foils with the
double heel valve
and the inserted
point barriers.
As mentioned
earlier it is
the powerful
force in the
strong inelastic
foils that enables
the build up
of the necessary
hydraulic pressure
creating the
large pressure
relieving carrying
surfaces under
the heel and
forefoot and for the sensory massage.
Even
when we are stand
still every little
movement of the
body will change
the pressure
loads that the
foot will transfer
to the sole surface.
In a regular
shoe these many
little body changes
will not do anything
significantly
with the pressure
loads under the
heel cushion
and the ball
of the forefoot.
By
placing the water
filled sensory
massage sole
in the shoe the
sole will create
a hydraulic dynamical
pressure cushion
between the foot
and shoe. The
hydraulic pressure
patterns in the
sole will react
to every single
little change
of the body's
position and
create/provoke
new and different
pressure patterns
under the foot.
Especially under
the forefoot
the constant
change of carrying
surfaces will
reduce the time-
and pressure
loads on sore and painful areas.
It
is the constant
varying hydraulic
pressure patterns
in the sole that
creates the sensory
massage. Every
time the body
changes its position
the pressure
load form the
foot against
the sole will
change, creating
yet another new
hydraulic pressure
pattern in the
sole. The new
hydraulic pressure
pattern in the
sole will provoke/force
the foot to change
foot position
more frequently.
The
body's balance
system will respond
to the new foot
position by activating
the calf and
thigh muscles
which will make
the body change
position.
As
mentioned above
the sensory massage
will create a
great balance
uncertainty unless
the system is
restricted. If
you stand in
a waterbed where
there is no water
restriction is
would be very
difficult to
keep your balance.
Due to the double
heel valve and
the precisely
measured water
amount in the
sensory water
filled massage
sole the movement
of the water
is regulated,
making sure that
the water movements
under the foot
feels stimulating
and comfortable while at the same time keeping the sensory massaging effect.
Showing
of obtainable
pressure
relief
The
two pictures
show the measuring
of the pressure
load on a foot
without soles
and with D40.
As the pictures
show it's possible
to achieve
a comfortable
pressure relief
with the use
of D40. Besides
the shown pressure
relief there
is the added
pressure relief
from the sensory
water filled
massage soles
forced movement
of the foot
ensuring that
the amount
of time that
a certain area
of the foot
is exposed
to pressure
loads is reduces. This has great significance when you are stand up which is the position
where the biggest
pressure loads
to the skin
layers of the
sole of the
foot occurs
through pressure
multiplied
with time.
Size
of the sole
and shoe
The
length of MEDICOVI®
-D40 must correspond
to the foot.
Before opening
the vacuum pack
with the sensory
water filled
massage soles
it is recommended
that one checks
the length of
the sole by placing
the soft EVA-upper
sole on the floor
and then placing
the foot on top
of the sole.
MEDICOVI®
-D40 is 4,5
mm thick.
The shoe
should be
large enough
for the foot
to be able
to move once
the sole
has been
inserted.
The MEDICOVI®
-D40 sole
is made to fit two shoe sizes.
The
toe piece
may be cut
to the smaller
shoe size
with scissors.
Fore example
from size
43 to size
42. In open
shoes without
heels, the
MEDICOVI®
-D40 must
be securely
attached
to the inside
bottom of
the shoe.
In shoes
without a
heel back
a piece of
Velcro can
be placed
on the bottom
of MEDICOVI®
-D40 across
the sole
over the
welding pattern
just after
the heel.

Getting
used to the
soles
MEDICOVI®
-D40 increases
circulation in
the feet and
legs through
strong activation
of the sole of
the foot as well
as the calf and
foot muscles.
Sore muscles
may be experienced
at first until
a reasonable
state of fitness
has been achieved.
Some people may
initially think
that the soles
contain unequal
amounts of water.
The reason for
this is, however,
that our feet
have different
tolerance levels
and this sensation
will quickly
disappear. Anyone suffering from dizziness may experience problems with the sole due to the continual
movement of the
foot. However
is should be
noticed that
clinical tests
have showed that
the soles helps
to improve posture
and balance.
Life
span of the
soles
With
normal use
the soles will
work for about
one year. In
order to achieve
maximum relief
from the soles
it is therefore
recommended
that the soles
be replaced
at least once
a year.
It
is strongly
recommended
that people
suffering
from diabetes
examine the
function
of the soles
and checks
the shoe
for impurities
every single
day.
